- An optical tracking system uses servo motors and lasers to create an invisible position reference throughout a room
OUR ROLE
- Identified several system level issues that negatively impacted the VR experience
- Researched and developed multiple control system options
- Characterized options and selected a new motion control system to yield a 10X improvement in motor velocity control, faster startup times, and quicker synchronization of the two servo axes
- Wrote a motor specification for the original motor and identified a secondary motor supplier thereby enhancing assurance of supply and cost competitiveness
